Joaquin Clerch, Guitar With Soprano Elena Rivera

Elena Rivera, celebrated Mexican soprano, studied in Spain where she earned acclaim for her expertise in zarzuela and was awarded the Lola Rodríguez Aragón prize as the most distinguished student of her time. She received a 2020 Latin Grammy nomination in Best Classical Music Album with the Latin American Quartet for their recording The Juliet Letters by composer Elvis Costello. Joaquín Clerch is an accomplished classical guitarist and composer who is also a close friend and protégé of Cuban guitarist Leo Brouwer, a major influence on his work as both performer and creator. His composition Yemaya won first prize in the 1987 National Cuban Composition Competition and the 1987 Toronto International Guitar Competition. In 1999 Joaquín Clerch was appointed professor of guitar at Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf. Eliot Fisk described Joaquín as the most outstanding guitarist worldwide during his generation.
