Valencia Baryton Project

The Valencia Baryton Project is an energetic group bringing back to life the baryton, an 18th-century bowed-and-plucked string instrument long since lost. The ensemble performs Haydns 123 trios and other compositions originally written for this rare combination of instruments, while also premiering new works commissioned today. They have toured extensively throughout Europe and North America, receiving widespread recognition for their thoughtful programming and refined musicianship. Their Naxos recordings have garnered international acclaim, reinvigorating an instrument once regarded as the ultimate symbol of aristocratic refinement.
