A musician and road warrior, Greenes new EP The Modern Lives - Vol 2 (released October 2018 on Blue Rose Music) captures his first months of fatherhood, a break from constant touring, and moving cross-country from Brooklyn to Northern California. This collection of six original songs extends the themes of The Modern Lives - Vol 1 EP (released in 2017 on Blue Rose Music), carrying a raw, do-it-yourself Brooklyn basement aesthetic. Greene is deeply influenced by American music history and how regional styles fit into modern times. While Volume One explored Delta blues as a lens for examining contemporary society, Volume Two embraces the bluegrass and folk sounds of his youth.Lead single Crazy Comes Easy demonstrates Greenes dynamic range across slide guitar, organ, bass, and percussion, with guitar parts that nod to his time in The Black Crowes. Meanwhile, Good Old Bad Times highlights Greene as songwriter as he questions nostalgia with lines like How can somebody find a future? / If they aint got a foothold in the past? Piano ballad Victim Of The Crime was one of Jackies oldest demos until these sessions gave him the tools to complete a song written for his wife before she became his wife. While the title suggests melodrama, the song itself is tender and heartfelt as he details loves hardships.
