A musicians musician and road warrior, his new EP The Modern Lives - Vol 2 (released October 2018 on Blue Rose Music) captures his first months of fatherhood, time away from constant touring, and a move from Brooklyn to Northern California where he was born. This collection of six original songs extends the theme of The Modern Lives - Vol 1 EP from 2017, carrying that Brooklyn basement DIY feel and ethos forward. Greene studies American musics evolution over time and how regional sounds fit into contemporary contexts. While Volume One explored Delta blues as a canvas for examining modern society, this one embraces bluegrass and folk influences from his youth.Lead single Crazy Comes Easy displays Greenes dynamic multi-instrumental abilitieshe plays slide guitar, organ, bass, and percussionwith guitar licks that nod to his time in The Black Crowes. Meanwhile, Good Old Bad Times highlights him as a songwriter as he delivers lines like How can somebody find a future? / If they aint got a foothold in the past?, taking a critical look at nostalgia. Piano ballad Victim Of The Crime was one of Jackies oldest demos until the sessions gave him the tools to complete a song he wrote for his wife before she became his wife. While the title carries melodrama, the song itself is tender and heartfelt as he details loves trials and tribulations.
