About the Event
This special night will bring together policymakers, wildfire practitioners, funders, and community members to reflect on how to prevent future wildfire disasters like those seen in LA. A short panel discussion and Q&A with the filmmakers and wildfire mitigation leaders will be followed by a screening of the new Weathered: After the LA Firestorm episode. A year after the devastating Los Angeles fires, Weathered host Maiya May returns to document what recovery really looks like. She finds communities still navigating immense loss, bureaucratic roadblocks, and unresolved questions about what went wrong, yet she is uplifted by the determination and innovation taking root. With newly reported material, Maiya follows survivors as they confront why systems failed and how to prevent this from happening again, revealing a hopeful blueprint for wildfire resilient communities.
