Fear and Desire (1953)

A fabricated conflict in an unnamed nation serves as backdrop for this drama. Four soldiers survive a plane crash to discover they're trapped six miles deep in enemy territory within a dense forest. Led by Lieutenant Corby, their strategy involves reaching a nearby river, constructing a raft, and attempting to slip back across at night. Their escape plan is disrupted when a young woman wanders into the woods and finds them hiding, while also by an enemy general stationed nearby whom one of the men vows to eliminate.
