Night Moves

Night Moves signed to Domino a decade ago when John Pelant and Micky Alfano were just out of college and barely old enough to drink legally. They have since created many strong records, their cosmic country style driven by an apparent fascination with international psychedelic sounds. Legendary producer John Agnello must have been pleasantly surprised to hear from Night Moves again. Back in 2015, Night Moves asked Agnello to produce its second album Pennied Days, a kaleidoscopic record. The process was not easy. Agnello, the experienced veteran, openly clashed with Pelant, who at that time was trying to follow advice from friends about avoiding overproduction and sidestepping industry expectations of sophomore slump records. Later, Pelant wrote Feel Another Day, a slow country rock song about an emotional roller coaster of constant sadness. He could picture its winding harmonies, worn acoustic guitars, and keys tracing the melody like a spotlight on a mobile stage. He knew Agnello could capture those sounds and help shape the song as he envisioned it. Night Moves and Agnello met again in a famous rural studio and created more than just Feel Another Day. The Redaction EP is fourteen minutes long with four tracks, full of catchy hooks, beautiful textures, and Agnello's sharp production. More dense and magnetic than anything Night Moves has ever made before, Redaction stands as proof of growth and maturityand of course the powerful magic of a well-made rock song.
