Sam Dillon Quartet

A native of New York City, saxophonist Sam Dillon has earned a reputation as one of the most sought-after musicians of his time. His extensive discography features more than forty studio recordings, worldwide performances, and international critical praise that have established him as a leading figure on tenor saxophone today. Beyond his work with The Jimmy Heath Big Band, Mingus Big Band, Slide Hampton Octet, The 8BitBigBand, The Steven Feifke Big Band, The Birdland Big Band, and numerous other ensembles, Sam frequently leads his own quartet and has released four albums as a leader or co-leader. In 2016 he received an Artist Diploma from The Juilliard School, granting him a master's degree in music performance after earning one from SUNY Purchase College in 2009. He was selected as one of thirteen semi-finalists at the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition in 2013 and performed at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. Sam has served as director of the jazz program at USDAN Summer Camp For The Arts for five years, acting both as teacher and administrator.
