Maria Schneider Orchestra

Maria Schneiders musical work has been praised by critics as evocative, grand, enchanting, breathtakingly beautiful, and beyond classification. She and her ensemble of 18 musicians have performed in concert venues globally and have won seven Grammy Awards, many Jazz Journalist Awards, and numerous Downbeat and JazzTimes Readers and Critics Poll awards. Schneiders music crosses genre boundaries, resulting in a diverse list of commissions ranging from jazz to classical and dance, including collaborations with David Bowie. She is among only a few artists to receive Grammys in multiple genres, having won in both jazz and classical categories as well as for her work with Bowie. She holds honorary doctorates from the University of Minnesota and Eastman School of Music. In 2019, the National Endowment for the Arts bestowed upon Schneiders the nations highest honor in jazz, naming her an NEA Jazz Master.
