Isaiah J. Thompson Quartet

Isaiah J. Thompson received the 2023 American Pianists Awards and Cole Porter Fellowship in Jazz from the American Pianists Association. Born in West Orange, New Jersey, he began his musical training at The Calderone School of Music as a child before advancing to Jazz House Kids and NJPAC Jazz For Teens programs. He was subsequently admitted to The Juilliard School, earning both a Bachelor's degree in 2019 and a Master of Music degree in 2020. His professional career includes performances with prominent musicians such as Ron Carter, John Pizzarelli, Christian McBride, Ccile McLorin Salvant, Steve Turre, and Buster Williams. He made his recording debut on the Handful of Keys album from Jazz at Lincoln Center's Blue Engine Records, featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra led by Wynton Marsalis, and has since released several albums as a leader. Thompson contributed to the Golden Globe-nominated score for Motherless Brooklyn, was recognized as a Steinway Artist, and received additional honors including the 2018 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award and second place in the 2018 Thelonious Monk Competition. As an artist, he aims to express love, spirit, and reverence while sharing his personal journey through his music and deep devotion to jazz.
