Isaiah J. Thompson Quartet

Isaiah J. Thompson received the 2023 American Pianists Awards and Cole Porter Fellowship in Jazz from the American Pianists Association. Born in West Orange, New Jersey, he began his musical training at The Calderone School of Music as a child before advancing through Jazz House Kids and NJPAC Jazz For Teens programs. He was admitted to The Juilliard School where he earned both a Bachelor's degree in 2019 and a Master of Music degree in 2020. His professional career includes performances with prominent musicians such as Ron Carter, John Pizzarelli, Christian McBride, Ccile McLorin Salvant, Steve Turre, and Buster Williams. His recording debut appeared on the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra album Handful of Keys released by Blue Engine Records under Wynton Marsalis' leadership, followed by multiple subsequent releases as a leader. Thompson contributed to the Golden Globe-nominated soundtrack for Motherless Brooklyn, was designated a Steinway Artist, and received recognition including the 2018 Lincoln Center Emerging Artist Award and second place in the 2018 Thelonious Monk Competition. As an artist, he seeks to express love, spirit, and respect while sharing his personal experiences through his musical expression and deep devotion to jazz music.
