Catherine Russell

Catherine Russell hails from New York City as a native of musical lineage. Her father, Luis Russell, was a celebrated pianist, composer, and bandleader who served as long-time musical director to Louis Armstrong. Her mother, Carline Ray, was an accomplished vocalist, guitarist, and bassist known for performing with the International Sweethearts of Rhythm, Mary Lou Williams, and Sy Oliver. Catherine's professional journey commenced at a young age. Following her graduation from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts with honors, she toured and recorded alongside artists such as Carrie Smith, Steely Dan, David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, Paul Simon, Jackson Browne, Michael Feinstein, Levon Helm, Toshi Reagon, and Rosanne Cash, among others, appearing on more than two hundred albums.
