About the Event

Advance ticket prices for online purchases are consistently less than those for walk-in sales. At its finest, harmony duo singing can turn basic arithmetic into an illusion. One plus one no longer equals two; instead it produces something entirely differenta capital I, a universal hum, a deep resonance that bridges two perspectives. On their newest album Every Time I Think About You, brothers Jack Torrey and Page Burkum, known as The Cactus Blossoms, once again demonstrate they are among the most skilled and unique modern performers of this art form. Yet like any great magician, The Cactus Blossoms cannot or will not fully explain the illusion they create. Harmonies play a major role in their sound, but in some ways it is the least element they consciously develop, says Burkum. We devote our primary attention and energy to crafting the songs themselves; harmonies simply emerge from that process. There is magic occurring on Every Time I Think About Youa record that sounds more like a band than any other in The Cactus Blossoms discographythanks to contributions from Jeremy Hanson (drums), Jacob Hanson (guitar) and Phillip Hicks (bass). There She Goes sets its romantic regret against a danceable bop beat, while the title track is a heartbreaking song about loss and moving on. Even if you do not set out to write songs with a specific theme in mind, it seems one usually emerges naturally, says Torrey. This record keeps returning to the idea of leaving one place for another, departing from people and situations that bring you down, from grief and sorrow.
