About the Event
Tarek Yamani performs with Martin Masakowski and Peter Varnado in this trio featuring the Lebanese-American pianist whose work merges African American jazz with Arabic maqam traditions, creating what is often termed Afro-Tarab. A self-taught musician who found his path at nineteen, Yamani has received major accolades including the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Composers Competition and shared stages with artists such as Wayne Shorter, Zakir Hussain, Esperanza Spalding, and Brian Blade. His celebrated records like Ashur, Lisan Al Tarab: Jazz Conceptions in Classical Arabic, and Peninsular combine improvisation, global rhythms, and profound cultural exploration. Prepare for an original performance that crosses traditional and innovative linesa night of jazz with lasting resonance. Shows begin at 7:30pm and 9:30pm; doors open at 7:00pm and 9:00pm respectively. The dining area operates from 5pm to 10pm for meals before or after the concert. Holders of advance tickets may secure reservations in the Dining Room through OpenTable.com, while those with purchased tickets can book table service in the adjacent Restaurant by emailing reservations@snugjazz.com. Dinner without advance ticket purchase is on a first-come, first-served basis upon arrival. The Bar Room remains open from 5pm to midnight regardless of ticket status. Please note that full menu service is not provided inside the Music Room; only charcuterie trays, cocktails, and soft drinks are available for table service there to maintain the quiet atmosphere essential for this intimate concert experience.
