About the Event

Lebanese-American pianist Tarek Yamani performs in trio with Martin Masakowski and Peter Varnado. Yamani blends African-American jazz with Arabic rhythms and maqam traditions, creating music often called Afro-Tarab. Self-taught at nineteen, he has won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Composers Competition and shared stages with Wayne Shorter, Zakir Hussain, Esperanza Spalding, and Brian Blade. His acclaimed albums Ashur, Lisan Al Tarab: Jazz Conceptions in Classical Arabic, and Peninsular fuse improvisation, global rhythm, and cultural inquiry. Expect a rich, boundary-pushing performance that bridges tradition and innovationa night of jazz resonating beyond genre. Shows at 7:30pm and 9:30pm; doors open at 7:00pm and 9:00pm. The restaurant is open from 5pm to 10pm for dinner before or after the show. Advance ticket holders may make reservations via OpenTable.com or by emailing reservations@snugjazz.com after purchasing tickets online. Dinner service without advance tickets is first-come, first-served based on availability upon arrival. The bar room is open from 5pm to midnight, with or without tickets. Please note the full menu is not served inside the Music Room; only charcuterie trays, cocktails, and soft drinks are available for table service there. To preserve the quiet focus of intimate concerts, we recommend arriving at least ninety minutes before showtime to enjoy full dinner service in the Dining Room next door.
