About the Event
The Storyville Stompers Brass Band began as a circle of friends who shared a deep love for traditional New Orleans music in 1981, and over time grew into one of the nations most respected brass ensembles, performing across America, Europe, South America and Asia. They continue to play authentic New Orleans-style musicthe foundation of traditional jazzas written by Gambit Weekly: an integral part of the brass band scene with a big fat sound and plenty of spirit, carrying on a tradition with a repertoire of classic jazz tunes rarely heard today. After more than forty years of performances at festivals, parades and galas, they received Best Traditional Brass Band in 2010 and 2011 from Gambit Weeklys Big Easy Music Awards among many other nominations, becoming a cornerstone of the New Orleans brass band tradition. Tonight we honor Snug Harbors second owner, longtime manager and friend, the late Wesley Schmidt (19512019), also a founding member and Grand Marshall of the Storyville Stompers, with our annual Birthday Tribute and Celebration of Life. Shows begin at 7:30pm and 9:30pm; doors open at 7:00pm and 9:00pm respectively. The restaurant serves dinner from 5pm to 10pm before or after your performance. Advance ticket holders may make dining room reservations online through OpenTable.com, or by forwarding their e-ticket confirmation with a dinner request via email to reservations@snugjazz.com once purchased. Those without advance tickets receive first-come, first-served seating based on availability upon arrival. The full bar is open from 5pm until midnight for all guests, whether they hold tickets or not. Please note that the Music Room does not serve the complete menu; only cheese and charcuterie trays are available for table service to preserve the quiet, focused atmosphere of our intimate concerts. We recommend arriving at least ninety minutes before your showtime to enjoy full dinner service in the adjacent Dining Room before settling into the Music Room for your ticketed performance.
