About DJ Soul Sister: One of New Orleans longest-running DJ artists, DJ Soul Sisters internationally known broadcast programs and live performances draw from her personal collection of more than 10,000 vinyl records. A New Orleans native, she has volunteered for over 30 years with community radio station WWOZ FM, where she hosts the long-running Soul Power show on Saturday nights. Since producing her first event in 1997, Soul Sister has built a legendary reputation for unforgettable DJ sets and parties, including the 20+ year-running HUSTLE! dance party. Known for playing only the music she loves, her improvisational sets skillfully mix, blend, and beat-match vinyl selections spanning 1970s through mid-1980s R&B, funk, soul, rare groove, underground disco, jazz fusion, and true-school hip-hop. Soul Sister made history as the first DJ to win New Orleans prestigious Big Easy Entertainment Award for Best DJ, receiving the honor in 2010 and again in 2017. She has performed at major festivals including the New Orleans Jazz 2010 as the festivals first-ever mainstage DJ), BUKU Music & Art Project, Jam Cruise, Boiler Room, and Electric Forest. Soul Sister has opened for many of her favorite artists, from George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic to Con Funk Shun and Teena Marie, and has performed alongside DJ artists such as Questlove, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Mannie Fresh, Low Down Loretta Brown (Erykah Badu), and Biz Markie, among many others.
