About the Event
Mahmoud Chouki New World Ensemble presents a performance led by Mahmoud Mood Chouki, a Moroccan guitarist, composer, and educator based in New Orleans whose work synthesizes global musical traditions. He instructs at the Lyce Franais de la Nouvelle Orlans and curates music for the New Orleans Museum of Art, having composed the score for the 2021 Sundance Award-winning film Ma Belle. In 2020 he received OffBeat Magazine's Best Emerging Artist award. His group has earned Gambit Weeklys 2022 Best World Music Artist honor at the Big Easy Awards. The concert features Chouki on guitar and oud, Alfred Jordan on drums, Martin Masakowski on bass, Ricardo Pascal on saxophone, and Oscar Rossignoli on piano. Two performances are offered at 7:30pm and 9:30pm with doors opening at 7:00pm and 9:00pm respectively. The restaurant operates from 5pm to 10pm for dinner before or after the shows. Ticket holders may reserve tables in advance through OpenTable.com, by emailing info@snugjazz.com after purchase, or on a first-come-first-served basis upon arrival without tickets. A full bar is available from 5pm until midnight with or without admission. Please note that inside the Music Room only cheese and charcuterie trays, cocktails, and soft drinks are served to maintain concert focus; full menu dining should be enjoyed in the adjacent Dining Room at least ninety minutes before showtime.
