About the Event
Mahmoud Chouki New World Ensemble presents an evening of global musical fusion led by Moroccan virtuoso Mahmoud Mood Chouki, a master guitarist, composer, and educator based in New Orleans whose work synthesizes diverse international traditions. Beyond his teaching at the Lyce Franais de la Nouvelle Orlans and curatorial role at the New Orleans Museum of Art, he composed the score for the 2021 Sundance Award winner Ma Belle and received OffBeat Magazine's 2020s Best Emerging Artist honor. His ensemble has earned Gambit Weeklys 2022 Big Easy Awards Best World Music Artist distinction. The program features Chouki on guitar, cigar box, and oud; Alfred Jordan on drums; Martin Masakowski on bass; Ricardo Pascal on saxophone; and Oscar Rossignoli at piano. Two performances are scheduled for 7:30pm and 9:30pm with doors opening at 7:00pm and 9:00pm respectively. The restaurant operates from 5pm to 10pm, offering dinner before or after the concert. Advance ticket holders may secure dining room reservations via OpenTable.com or by emailing info@snugjazz.com following online purchase. Those without tickets receive first-come, first-served seating based on arrival time. A full bar is available from 5pm to midnight for all guests with or without admission. Please note that the music room does not serve the complete menu; only charcuterie and cheese trays are provided there. We recommend arriving at least ninety minutes before your showtime to enjoy a full dinner in the adjacent dining room, then settling into the intimate concert space for your performance.
