Dr. Michael White's Original Liberty Jazz Band

Dr. Michael White leads an original jazz ensemble as a celebrated clarinetist, composer, historian, musicologist, and educator recognized for preserving traditional New Orleans jazz culture. In 2015 he recorded and performed on New Orleans Brass Bands Through the Streets of the City for the Smithsonian Institution and has served as guest director at Jazz at Lincoln Center programs. He is senior professor of African American music at Xavier University. Over more than thirty years in performance, Dr. White has toured internationally and recorded with Wynton Marsalis Eric Clapton Taj Mahal Paul Simon and Marianne Faithful. He received the Chevalier de Arts distinctionthe highest honor in traditional and folk artsand was named Humanist of the Year by the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities in 2010. Offbeat Magazine named him Clarinetist of the Year in 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Performances begin at 7:30pm and 9:30pm with doors opening at 7:00pm and 9:00pm respectively. The restaurant operates from 5pm to 10pm for dinner before or after the concert. Advance ticket holders may reserve tables online through OpenTable.com or by email at reservations@snugjazz.com for dining in the adjacent restaurant. Dinner service without advance tickets is first-come, first-served based on availability upon arrival. The full bar remains open from 5pm to midnight on show nights regardless of ticket status. Please note that only cheese and charcuterie trays are offered inside the Music Room to maintain quiet focus during intimate performances; cocktails and soft drinks are also available for table service there. Guests are encouraged to arrive at least ninety minutes before their performance time to enjoy full dinner service in the nearby dining room before being seated for their ticketed show.
