Detroit Brooks, celebrated guitarist, vocalist, and banjoist deeply embedded in South Louisianas musical heritage, has performed with legends like Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, and Irma Thomas, weaving traditional jazz, blues, funk, and R&B into his distinctive sound. His regular appearances at Preservation Hall and major festivals such as the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival have cemented his status as a true ambassador of the citys vibrant musical legacy.Each year, Detroit Brooks, Snug Harbor, and the New Orleans Jazz Museum honor Danny Barkerthe beloved musician, historian, and cultural icon whose band Dannys Jazz Hounds once called Snug Harbor home in the 1980sduring his birthday month. Barker passed away on March 13, 1994, but his profound influence endures. A multi-instrumentalist, composer, and vocalist, he collaborated with legends including Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, and Billie Holiday. He also founded the Fairview Baptist Church Brass Band, nurturing a new generation of jazz musicians. Beyond performing, Barker was an accomplished writer and storyteller whose memoirs captured New Orleans cultural soul. His book A Life In Jazz remains one of the earliest published autobiographies by a local jazz icon.Shows begin at 7:30pm and 9:30pm; doors open at 7:00pm and 9:00pm respectively. The restaurant operates from 5pm to 11pm, offering dinner before or after the performances.
