About the Event

A technology specialist in his early forties flees after being caught, traveling to Recife during Carnival hoping to reunite with his son, only to discover the city is far from safe. The film was directed and written by Kleber Mendonça Filho, starring Robson Andrade, Rubens Santos, and Licínio Januário. It features Brazilian Portuguese dialogue with English subtitles. Released in 1977, it received four Academy Award nominations and won Best Director and Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival.
