About the Event

A technology specialist in his early forties flees across Brazil seeking to reunite with his son. He arrives at Recife during Carnival hoping for safety but discovers the city is far from secure. The film, directed and written by Kleber Mendonça Filho, stars Robson Andrade, Rubens Santos, and Licínio Januário. It was nominated for four Academy Awards and won Best Director and Best Actor at Cannes. Released in 1977 with Brazilian Portuguese dialogue and English subtitles.
