About the Event

A tech expert in his early forties is on the run, fleeing to Recife during Carnival hoping to reunite with his son, only to discover the city offers no safety. The film, directed and written by Kleber Mendonça Filho and starring Robson Andrade, Rubens Santos, and Licínio Januário, was released in Brazil in 1977 and includes English subtitles for Portuguese speakers. It earned four Academy Award nominations and won Best Director and Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival.
