About the Event

A technology specialist in his early forties flees to Recife for Carnival hoping to reunite with his son, only to discover the city is not the sanctuary he expected. The film, directed and written by Kleber Mendonça Filho and starring Robson Andrade, Rubens Santos, and Licínio Januário, is presented in Brazilian Portuguese with English subtitles. It was nominated for four Academy Awards and won Best Director and Best Actor at Cannes in 1977.
