Marina Pacowski, a celebrated French jazz vocalist who has earned multiple awards, is thrilled to lead her top-tier ensemble at Catalina Jazz Club. The evening will feature an exploration of classic American standards and bebop alongside brand-new compositions from her latest album, New Jazz Standards, Volume Seven: The Music of Carl Saunders. Originally from Biarritz, France, Marina now resides in Los Angeles. She works across multiple disciplines: she is a multi-awarded jazz singer and concert pianist, as well as a sought-after collaborative pianist, recording artist, and educator. Her performances have taken place at LA venues including The Jazz Bakery, Catalina Jazz Club, Herb Alperts Vibrato Jazz Grill, and The Lighthouse, and in 2021 she received the Jazz Excellence Award at Feinsteins at Vitellos during a ceremony hosted by Rhonda Hamilton of KKJZ. Her debut album on Summit Records (Inner Urge) features Roy McCurdy, John Clayton, Josh Nelson, Jon Mayer, Peter Erskine, Larry Koonse, Carl Saunders, Nolan Shaheed, Bevan Manson, Mark Massey, Mike Gurrola, and Scott Whitfield. Her second release (New Jazz Standards, Volume Seven: The Music of Carl Saunders) also includes McCurdy, Clayton, Nelson, Koonse, and Whitfield, plus Ken Wild, Rickey Woodard, and Ron Stout, with special guest appearances by John Proulx and Ken Peplowski. As a pianist, Marina has toured internationally, performing extensively across Europe and the United States, and has conducted masterclasses at major institutions including the Eastman School of Music. Composers have created virtuosic works for her, including Frank Protos concerto for her, which she recorded in Cincinnati with members of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
