Richard Elliot possesses a rare talent for blending technical skill with genuine musical enthusiasm. Growing up surrounded by records from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Dave Brubeck, and the Temptations through his older sisters collection, saxophonist Richard Elliot later worked with three legendary Motown figures who inspired him. As a teenager, he secured early positions with Natalie Cole and the Pointer Sisters. His impressive discography also includes five years performing with the funk and soul horn section of Tower of Power.Richard Elliot has successfully established his own unique style from a wealth of musical influences, producing more than 20 Smooth Jazz Top Ten singles and Contemporary Jazz number-one albums.His 2024 album Straight Up Down highlights Richard Elliots characteristic soulful and blues-driven approach, which effortlessly merges his technical ability with boundless passion alongside the refined elements of Jazz, Blues, Pop, R&B, and Rock.On his own releases and those of his collaborators, Elliot has enjoyed working with an impressive roster including Dave Koz, Gerald Albright, Mindi Abair, Rick Braun, Jeff Lorber, and many others. Never content to remain stationary, he performs over 100 shows annually. All GA sections (Main Floor GA & Miles Davis Mezzanine) will be assigned by host and are first come, first served (except where a reserved sign is posted).
