About the Event
Fitzgeralds Nightclub presents Jazz Album Tribute Vol. XV: Grant Greens Idle Moments ft. Neal Algers Blue Note Quartet for $15 general admission and reserved tables available. Neal Alger on guitar, Scott Burns on tenor saxophone, John Tate on bass, George Fludas on drums return to Fitzgeralds for a contemporary reading of the classic jazz guitarist Grant Greens 1963 Blue Note Records release Idle Moments. Steve Huey of AllMusic states this is the essential first Green purchase and some of the finest guitar jazz of the hard bop era. Neal will be joined by his longtime comrades in the quartet. The second set features a smattering of Blue Note classics and obscurities that jazz audiences will surely love. Lauded as one of the most sensitive and creative guitarists in a city filled with them (Howard Reich, Chicago Tribune) and described as monstrously talented by Christopher Loudon (Jazz Times magazine), Neal Algers musical versatility has allowed him to perform with Howard Levy on jazz, New Black Renaissance on R&B/Soul, Bossa Tres on Brazilian samba, and Blend Acoustic on classic rock/pop. Neal has toured Europe, Canada, Brazil, South Korea, Russia, and the U.S. with vocalist/pianist Patricia Barber and is featured on her Blue Note Records releases Verse, Live: A Fortnight in France, Mythologies, The Cole Porter Mix, and Higher. Grab dinner before the show at Babygold Barbecue or enjoy full service dining inside the club when doors open. There is rather limited street parking in the area; we recommend arriving by rideshare, bicycle, or rickshaw.
