About the Event
Since its 2017 world premiere, Dance NOW! Miami's acclaimed Bridges NOT Walls has only grown more urgent. This powerful one-act work?calling for understanding, communication, and compassion toward immigrants?returns as part of Program II on Sunday, March 15. The piece confronts political divisions in America and beyond, exploring difference, commonality, migration, and silence through choreography by Artistic Directors Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini, with video art by Francisco Javier Moraga Escalona and an evocative score. Premiered in Miami, it has since evolved through residencies and performances in Mexico and Italy. Program II also features the world premiere of Baumgarten's 1933, a cabaret-inspired reflection on the rise of Hitler, along with Salterini's duet Strings of Goodbye and Tandy Beal's Forest Dreams from DNM's Masterpiece in Motion series. As critic Diana Dunbar wrote, Bridges "yearns to be seen and heard."
