Surface parking in downtown Austin costs nothing on Sundays and after six o'clock on Mondays at Trinity Garage, which is free all day Sunday. The daily fee there is three dollars per half hour, capped at twenty-four dollars for the whole day. A flat ten dollar charge applies from Thursday evenings until early morning through Sunday mornings, while Friday and Saturday rates are twelve dollars flat. Parking during special downtown events may be harder to find and more expensive. If attendants follow their regular schedule, the elevator in Trinity Garage goes dark around ten o'clock each night and stays off most Saturdays; patrons with mobility issues should park on the plaza near the fountains instead of under the awning. The surface lot at the southwest corner of Ninth and Trinity charges eight dollars for up to an hour, fifteen for one through ten hours, and twenty-five for overnight from five in the afternoon until ten in the morning. Special event parking may be more limited and costlier here too. Metered parking is available between Cesar Chavez and Tenth Street as well as between IH-35 and Lamar Boulevard with hourly rates of one dollar during listed times; meters have different maximum stay limits by area and are free outside those hours, accepting credit cards or coins.
