About the Event
On February 1st, gather for Setsubuna Japanese seasonal ceremony that signals the shift from winter to spring, a moment to cast off bad luck and embrace renewal. For two months, six Nikkei artists have worked in workshops, shaping their visions to be unveiled on this day. You will see works still in progress, participate in bean-throwing to banish the onispirits of illness, fear, and chaosand share in ehomaki, a quiet meal eaten facing east while others watch silently. This evening also offers an early glimpse into our Setsubun artist residency, where Nikkei creators are examining light and shadow, cleansing, transformation, and seasonal return. Families, seniors, and children of every age may attend. Mark the season together and enter the coming year with purpose.
