About the Event
Sinfonia Toronto presents a wonderfully varied program of music from three eras and from Canada, England, France and Vienna. Maestro Arman leads the orchestra in Elgar's lyrical Serenade, the world premiere of a folk-inspired Sinfonietta by Montreal composer Petros Shoujounian, the first performance of Toronto composer Colin Eatock's beautiful settings of poems by Bengali literary icon Rabindrath Tagore, a famous Romantic solo violin showpiece and a lush orchestral version of Beethoven's famous Pathétique sonata. Two exciting young Canadian soloists will be presented - soprano Kripa Nageshwar will perform the Eatock songs, and violinist Evan Pyne will appear in Saint-Saëns' brilliant Romantic virtuoso show-stopper, the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.
