About the Event

Shod is the ancient Japanese art of brush calligraphy that unites mindful motion, fluid ink, and purposeful strokes to turn written characters into expressive works. Beyond mere writing technique, Shod serves as a meditative practice fostering concentration, tranquility, and full presence. This session is instructed by Manaha, an accomplished practitioner who leads participants through the essentials of brush control, stroke sequence, and beyond. Accessible to novices, returning students, and children alike, the gathering provides a welcoming setting to decelerate, align with ones breath, and witness the elegance and lucidity inherent in Shod within a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. January Theme: - Kakizome (New Years resolutions). Requirement: Basic Japanese comprehension is necessary. Note: All materials are supplied for use during the workshop only; no exchanges or refunds apply.
