Winterruption YEG 2026 is held on Treaty Six territory, which is the traditional homeland of the nehiyaw, Dene, Stoney Nakoda, Nakota Sioux, and Annishnabe peoples. We also recognize that this land is home to Metis and Inuit communities. The volunteers, producers, patrons, and artists humbly admit they are still learning what it means to be on Treaty territory and unceded land. They acknowledge the land as an act of reconciliation and gratitude toward those whose territories they inhabit or visit. They understand there remains important work to do in honoring treaties and Indigenous histories, languages, and cultures that influence their music community, and they are thankful to be guests here. Highlights include legendary LA punk band FEAR making their way to Edmonton for the first time in nearly forty years, Brooklyn-based hip-hop artist Talib Kweli, Funk powerhouse Thumpasaurus, indie-rap sensation Open Mike Eagle, Berlin multimedia artist Discovery Zone, Montreals Annie-Claude Deschnes of Duchess Says, Polaris Prize-shortlisted The OBGMS, Vancouvers buzz punks PISS, RuPaul drag star Miz Cracker, Portlands psych-rockers The Shivas, Bay Area indie-rockers Sour Widows, multi-disciplinary artist Vivek Shraya, London and Edmonton electro-pop musician Sean Nicholas Savage, Montreals Jane Inc., and many more.
