About the Event

Three Edmonton indie bandsMotherhood from Fredericton, Grimelda from Saskatoon, and Dead Fibreswill perform at an annual pizza party during Winterruption YEG 2026 at the CKUA Beresh Arts Den Performance Space on Friday January 23. The event is organized by Double Lunch and Brotherhood of Plates. Attendees receive a Detroit Deep Dish pizza from High Dough, with the first sixty guests getting one free. The party begins at eight forty p.m., with doors opening at eight p.m. More information about the festival can be found online. Winterruption YEG is held on Treaty 6 land, which is the traditional territory of the nehiyaw, Dene, Stoney Nakoda, Nakota Sioux, and Annishnabe peoples, as well as Metis and Inuit communities. The organizers acknowledge this land as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territories they inhabit or visit, recognizing that important work remains to honor treaties, Indigenous histories, languages, and cultures within the music community. The first lineup includes legendary LA punk band FEAR, Brooklyn hip-hop artist Talib Kweli, funk group Thumpasaurus, indie-rap musician Open Mike Eagle, Berlin multimedia artist Discovery Zone, Montreals Annie-Claude Deschnes of Duchess Says, Polaris Prize-shortlisted The OBGMS, Vancouver punks PISS, RuPaul drag star Miz Cracker, Portland psych-rockers The Shivas, Bay Area indie-rockers Sour Widows, multi-disciplinary artist Vivek Shraya, London/Edmonton electro-pop musician Sean Nicholas Savage, Montreals Jane Inc., and many others.
