About the Event
The first round of performers has been announced for Discovery Zone featuring Annie-Claude Deschnes and a limited hangout session at Winterruption YEG 2026, doors opening at 8:00pm and the show beginning at 8:30pm in the Starlite Room on Thursday January 22nd. The event takes place on Treaty Six territory, the traditional lands of the Nehiyaw, Dene, Stoney Nakoda, Nakota Sioux, and Anishnabe peoples, with recognition also given to Metis and Inuit communities. Volunteers, producers, patrons, and artists acknowledge they are learning what it means to be on Treaty land and unceded territory, recognizing this as an act of reconciliation and gratitude toward those whose lands we occupy or visit. They understand important work remains to honor treaties and Indigenous histories, languages, and cultures that shape the music community, expressing thanks for being guests here. The lineup includes legendary LA punk band Fear making their first Edmonton appearance in nearly forty years, Brooklyn hip-hop artist Talib Kweli, Funk powerhouse Thumpasaurus, indie-rap sensation Open Mike Eagle, Berlin multimedia artist Discovery Zone, Montreal's Annie-Claude Deschnes of Duchess Says, Polaris Prize-shortlisted The OBGMS, Vancouver punk band PISS, RuPaul drag star Miz Cracker, Portland psych-rockers The Shivas, Bay Area indie-rockers Sour Widows, multi-disciplinary artist Vivek Shraya, London/Edmonton electro-pop musician Sean Nicholas Savage, Montreal's Jane Inc., and many more additional performers.
